Real-World Depth: Managing the “High-Press” Academy

Implementing a modern tactical philosophy like the “High Press” (Gegenpressing) at the youth level requires more than just shouting from the touchline. It requires objective proof.

The “Defensive Line” Audit

• The Problem: Youth defenders often drop too deep under pressure, creating gaps in the midfield.
• The Protocol: Use VEO’s Analytics to generate a “Average Position” heatmap.
• The Fix: Show the defenders their actual position relative to the 18-yard box. Use Tactical Pad to animate the “Pendulum” movement (shifting together).
• The Trap: Focusing on ball-possession % in youth soccer.
• The Insight: At the amateur level, Regains in the Final Third is a more significant predictor of goals than total possession. Track this specific metric in your VEO highlights.

Instructional Guidance

1. Automated Capture: Deploy the VEO camera on a 24ft tripod at the midline. Ensure the tripod is weighted; wind-vibration ruins AI tracking.
2. Review & Analysis: Do not watch the full 90 minutes. Use the “AI Highlights” to jump straight to corner kicks and transitions.
3. Logistics Management: Centralize all rosters in TeamSnap. The Trap: Using WhatsApp for schedules leads to “information fragmentation.” Force all comms through the app.
4. Tactical Visualization: Export 30-second clips of set-pieces from Tactical Pad. Send these to the players’ phones 2 hours before kickoff.
